Griffith Island     Much of the land area of Griffiths Island is covered by the breeding burrows of an estimated seasonal population of 30,000 Shearwaters. These birds may be seen at dusk between late September and mid April as they return from foraging trips at sea to incubate their single eggs and subsequently feed their growing chicks. The young birds leave in early May, after the adults have departed. A public viewing platform has been built for visitors to enjoy the spectacle.

Rail Trail    Making its way through rural landscapes and farming communities, you will travel through dairy and beef farming country as well as remnant forest, skirt the north side of a 25,000-year-old volcano (Tower Hill) and traverse wetlands and coastal sand dunes.  It encompasses the historic towns of Port Fairy and Koroit, rural countryside, woodlands and native vegetation, extensive sea views of Killarney, extensive woodlands, coastal sand dunes, the Merri River wetlands and Warrnambool breakwater precinct.

Tower Hill Nature Reserve  Tower Hill Reserve, nestled inside a dormant volcano, is today a beautiful haven for wildlife thanks to the efforts of Friends of Tower Hill and volunteers. A lake and wetland are features of the reserve, and during years of average rainfall it is not uncommon to see the wetland completely immersed in water.  Koalas, emus, kangaroos, sugar gliders and many species of water birds, including the graceful black swans roam freely throughout the reserve, often within clear view. Located only 10 minutes from Port Fairy, Tower Hill is popular among people of all ages for picnics, nature walks and wildlife watching.
